Monday 25th July – The opening night of the Neath Comedy Festival kicks off in style with JOSH HOWIE: I AM A DICK.

Josh has more than a touch of Woody Allen about him back when he was young and funny. Raised as a Buddhist, he then trained as a Rabbi before being kicked off the programme for being caught with a naked (non-Jewish) girl, so perhaps it was inevitable that he would go on to become a stand-up comedian.

As well as headlining all the top comedy clubs in the UK and across the world he has also appeared on the Comedy Central shows ‘The World Stands Up’ and ‘Comedy Blue’ and can currently be seen as the presenter (aka the Movie Geek) of ‘Indie Close Up’, the Sky Movies show that offers all the latest news in the world of indie cinema.

This is his second Edinburgh Festival show and in it he hopes to set a few records straight. “The guy on the running machine said I’m ‘an asshole.’  The old lady on the bus reckons ‘a cock.’  My wife thinks ‘a twat.’  But they’re all wrong.  I’m a dick.”

‘A skillful comic whose ability to layer gag upon gag is unlikely to be surpassed’ List.

‘Howie is a name to watch’ Times

Tuesday 26th July – The Neath Comedy Festival is proud to present ANDREW O’NEILL: ALTERNATIVE.

Andrew is an Edinburgh Festival veteran this being his 8th show. As well as recently appearing on BBC2 on ‘Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle’, performing to 5,500 in Sonisphere and recently completing a sold out UK tour, he also has the distinction of headlining the first ever Clown’s Pocket gig @ The Duke back in September 2009.

Back then he was already established as one of the top UK circuit headliners and in the meantime he has toured both hemispheres, presented BBC Radio shows, featured in a double page spread in Kerrang Magazine and hosted the 2011 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards at London’s IndigO2 venue… alongside rock legend Alice Cooper!

He promises that this years show will be a “Funny comedy show by long-haired man (includes short play about gravy). All styles of comedy covered, guaranteed (some twice)”

“one of the funniest comedians on the circuit at the moment … hitting new heights of comedic brilliance” TimeOut

Wednesday 27th July – JARRED CHRISTMAS: LET’S GO MOFOS!

The Kiwi comedy superstar rocks up to the Neath Comedy Festival with his full Edinburgh show. Jarred has starred on ‘Mock the Week’, ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’,  ‘Dave’s One Night Stand’, ‘Flight of the Conchords’, Comedy Central shows  ‘Edinburgh & Beyond’ and ‘Comedy Blue’ as well as donning pink lycra to dance to Madonna’s Hung Up for Comic Relief’s lets dance and dressing up as Beyonce in the Pot Noodle Ads!

While all this is impressive, the fact remains that he is a phenomenally funny stand up. Jarred Christmas has got loads of stories. Jarred Christmas has loads of jokes. Jarred Christmas has loads of energy.
So he has combined these 3 pillars of comedy into one mighty show.
This is Jarred at his best, Charming, in ya face, sweaty and funny. So let’s go mofos!

” One of the funniest men to have picked up a microphone” Time Out

“Irrepressible, boisterous and bloody marvellous” TVNZ

Thursday 28th July – The Grande Finale, MATT KIRSHEN: WIDE EYED /  MUNDO JAZZ

After a week of world class comedy, the Neath Comedy Festival 2011 deserves a fitting finale and this is it. Not only do we have Matt Kirshen,  the star of NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standin’g, CBS’s ‘Late Late Show’, C4’s ‘Rude Tube’ and his own ‘World Stands Up’ special on Comedy Central, but we also have music comedy sensation MUNDO JAZZ. In a double-headline extravaganza to see the festival out.

“Young people are idiots” says Kirshen, he was young once, so he was an idiot too. Luckily he’s 31 now, so he’s as smart as it’s possible to be. Join Kirshen, the internationally acclaimed, award-winning comedian, as he takes you from Helsinki to Sydney, from Interflora to Air India and from PE lessons to the BNP in this brand new hour of stand-up.

‘Hugely impressive’ (Scotsman).

‘A sharp, surreal and often gloriously sick mind’ (Metro).

Mundo Jazz, preach peace, love and understanding with all the subtlety of a brick hitting butter, through their ridiculously catchy songs, awful dancing and  thunderously crass philosophizing.
A beautifully subtle satire on the likes of Bono and Bob Geldof, Mundo Jazz are also superb musical and comic improvisers, frequently creating songs on the spot and veering off into spontaneous chaos.
“A sort of live, Latino Spinal Tap. Very, very , very funny.”  -  Daily Express

All shows have support from Welsh acts and I’m your MC for the run.
Paul James

“Paul is a cracking act. Some of the best written one-liners I’ve heard for a while and an open delivery which warms him to the audience” – Juice Comedy
